BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — After residents raised concerns and pushed back against the city of Ridgecrest’s use of Flock cameras, the city’s police chief said they are amending parts of the contract with the company.
Mario Ysit, Ridgecrest’s police chief, told residents in the crowd of a city council meeting on Wednesday night that a few clauses relating to data storage and privacy in the contract between Ridgecrest and Flock are “gone.”
Although a handful of clauses have been removed or edited out of the city’s contract, Ysit said the amended contract still has to be approved by the city council. He said the city of Ridgecrest worked directly with the company to make the changes.

For example, Ysit said in the original contract, there was “very broad disclosures” on who can receive data collected by the cameras. Ysit said the original language included terms like “government officials” and “third parties.” He said he didn’t like the language in the contract, either…
