The New York City Commission on Racial Equity (NYC CORE) is calling on New Yorkers to gather in City Hall Park on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 5 PM to demand action on police abuse and protest the Mamdani administration’s appeal of a court ruling enforcing the City Charter’s racial equity requirements.
According to NYC CORE, taxpayers paid $53.5 million to resolve lawsuits alleging NYPD misconduct in the first seven months of 2026. Meanwhile, City Hall continues fighting a racial equity ruling intended to hold the government accountable.
