Kentucky State Police Post 16 to host 5K to honor memory of fallen trooper

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Kentucky State Police Post 16 is preparing for a 5K event to honor the memory of one of a trooper who died in the line of duty in 1966.

The KSP says the Fallen Trooper Mack Brady 5K run will take place on Oct. 17 at Central Park in Henderson. Runners will receive a free shirt for their participation, and the top five placed runners will receive a framed award certificate.

According to the KSP, Trooper Brady died in a car crash on Nov. 9, 1966, while responding to a call for assistance. He swerved to avoid a head-on collision after someone pulled into his path during an emergency run.

Trooper Brady had served with the Kentucky State Police for at least 15 years. He was survived by his wife and two children. According to the Kentucky State Police Fallen Officers Memorial webpage, Brady’s son became a KSP trooper himself, retiring from the force in 1991…
