Paris Mountain community gets development protections: Greenville County Council notes

Approved: Mountain Creek overlay district

Council approved final reading of an ordinance amending the county’s zoning regulations to create an overlay district protecting the Mountain Creek community southeast of Paris Mountain.

Nearly two years in the making and following input from community members working with county staff, the overlay seeks to provide additional protections to the area from development.

The measure amends the county’s zoning ordinance to create the Mountain Creek Community District, a zoning overlay aimed at reducing flooding due to loss of natural areas, strengthening buffering and screening requirements for developments, preserving open space and protecting historic sites.
