Horry County mother serving 45 years in prison for 2023 ‘family affair’ killing wants reduced sentence

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — An Horry County woman serving more than four decades in prison for masterminding a “family affair” style deadly mob beating wants her sentence reduced, according to a petition filed this week.

Samantha Watts pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison in the attack on Corey Soles, who was 29. Her son, Payton Watts, also pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 35 years, while Amber Watts got six years in prison suspended to five years’ probation for an accessory charge.
