West Warwick, R.I. — The speaker Warwick Town Council on Tuesday night approved moving fiscal 2026 surplus money into a capital account, accepted a federal firefighter grant and signed off on two school consulting contracts. It also spent a long stretch debating how quickly the town should start handing out help for rat infestations. That is according to the speaker Warwick Town Council’s published meeting recording; the meeting opened at 6:02 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers on Main Street.

No decision was made on rodent control. Council members said they expect a fuller set of options at the next regular meeting, scheduled for October 20.

Surplus moved to capital projects

The council approved by voice vote a resolution transferring fiscal year 2026 surplus funds from General Fund 100 to Special Revenue Fund 850, for capital projects in fiscal 2027 and beyond.
