(KMDL-FM) The Southeastern Conference is known for its tenacious football teams, its powerful member schools, and its slightly less-than-brilliant legal choices, but the conference is still the best in the land when it comes to college football.
Millions of fans attend or observe SEC Football games every weekend during the fall, and those fans have got to eat. And just like the member schools of the league all have their unique traditions, so do they have traditions at the stadium concession stand.
What Traits Make For a Good Stadium Snack or Meal?
In most cases, stadium snacks have to satisfy very few criteria. The food has to be portable. It would be nice if it wasn’t messy. The snack should have a connection to the school or the state where it is being served, and it would be nice if we didn’t have to take out a bank loan to afford it.
I must admit most of the SEC schools follow this formula to perfection. Naturally, LSU kicks it up a notch because this is Louisiana and we don’t do regular food. I was surprised at the choices at the Alabama Stadiums; both U of A and Auburn have unique snack choices, but Oklahoma and Missouri have both stolen a page out of Sweet Home’s playbook.
