KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Leaders behind some of Kansas City’s largest development projects shared their visions for the future of downtown during the Downtown Council’s annual “State of Downtown” event.

Brooks Sherman, Kansas City Royals president of real estate development, discussed the Royals’ proposed $3 billion stadium district. Sherman said the project is about more than a ballpark.
“So, it’s a ballpark with our stadium project, but it’s also a mixed-use development, and we get a heck of a good start with what Crown Center has done in its history.”
The Royals’ proposed development is one of several major projects expected to reshape downtown Kansas City. Tom Gerend, executive director of the Kansas City Streetcar Authority, also highlighted public transportation and connectivity.
