OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The city aims to clear construction barriers around Gene Leahy Mall by the end of this month, according to the latest update from the Omaha Streetcar Authority.
City organizers said removing the barriers should relieve parking issues around Gene Leahy Mall. The timeline would place the change before The RiverFront’s Holiday Lights Festival, which starts Nov. 28, allowing visitors to focus on the lights and not construction.
Midtown work progressing
In Midtown, the Omaha Streetcar Authority said work is about finished on the westbound track; and construction is set to begin on the eastbound track.
Drivers will not see a change to traffic patterns during that phase. The westbound-only lane of Farnam Street will remain open while the Streetcar Authority adjusts where drivers get routed along the street…
