Pentagon Orders Sea Drones From San Diego Start Up

The Pentagon has ordered dozens of sea drones from a San Diego start-up.

Seasats will now provide the government with autonomous boats to track and deter narcotics trafficking and illegal activity along the border.

The company’s flagship vessel is the Lightfish. It’s an 11-foot, 340-pound low profile autonomous surface vessel that costs roughly 240-thousand dollars. It’s able to operate for months at a time, even in rough seas with real time tracking data fed into military software networks…
