The shelves inside Japanese grocery chain Hashi Market’s first West Coast store, which opens in Cupertino on Oct. 9 at 10 a.m., are packed with snacks from Hokkaido, premium sake and luxe crown melons.
The 20,000-square-foot market at 20558 Stevens Creek Blvd. specializes in imported Japanese goods, seafood, meat, produce and pantry staples as well as fresh baked goods and ready-to-eat foods such as bento boxes, sushi and onigiri.
Hashi Market, a growing chain established in New York City in 2024, adds to the increasing number of Asian grocery stores flooding the Bay Area this year. Japanese chain Tokyo Central opened in Emeryville in January, followed by Dublin’s long-awaited outpost of Korean market H Mart in March. T&T Supermarket, Canada’s largest Asian grocery store chain, arrived to crowds in San Jose this summer and is gearing up to open in San Francisco in November, then Newark and Millbrae next year…
