Local architect building a replica of the Fountaingrove Round Barn

October 8th is the 9th anniversary of the destructive Tubbs Fire that burned thousands of homes, took more than 20 lives and scorched more than 36-thousand acres. The fire broke out near Tubbs Lane in Calistoga before 10pm on Sunday, October 8th, 2017 and was quickly propelled by winds, burning west towards Sonoma County.

As the community continues to heal, one man is building a replica of the iconic Fountaingrove Round Barn on his property. Ken Moholt Siebert lives off of Old Redwood Highway, just north of where the original round barn stood. Like many in Sonoma County, he smelled smoke that Sunday evening but didn’t expect what was to come.

“It was about 12:30 when I got a knock on the door and it was a neighbor up the hill had come down the road and was saying you know there’s fire up there in Fountaingrove and I said well I can’t see the fire but I I can see I’ll smell the smoke,” said Moholt Siebert. “And uh and he said, “Oh no, it’s it’s there.” So, you know, and he said, “Well, you should get out.””…
