Bird sues camera company with ties to Chinese government

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird announced Friday she has sued Lorex Corporation for selling camera equipment, including cameras marketed as a “Baby Cam,” with security vulnerabilities that are manufactured, sourced and serviced by a military company linked to the Chinese government.

Lorex’s products have been sold through retailers, including Costco, Amazon and Best Buy.

Lorex was previously owned by Dahua, a Chinese maker of surveillance equipment that was blacklisted by the U.S. and is required to share information with the Chinese government…
