Strong Cold Front Brings Gusts Over 45 MPH to Everett, Port Angeles, and Spokane as Washington Faces Blowing Dust and Sharp Cooldown Friday

WASHINGTON — A strong cold front is moving through Washington on Friday, bringing a sharp cooldown and gusty winds statewide. Gusts of 25 to 45 mph are expected across much of the state, with isolated gusts near 50 mph possible. A Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Friday across parts of eastern Washington, where visibility could drop to a mile or less. Residents should secure outdoor decorations, patio furniture, and other loose items before winds pick up.

Western Washington Winds Peak Late Morning

Across western Washington, winds will increase Friday morning and peak from late morning into early afternoon. Most of Puget Sound can expect gusts of 20 to 35 mph, with Olympia near 30 mph and Kent around 21 mph.

Stronger gusts are possible near Everett, where forecast gusts reach around 45.7 mph. Winds are expected to gradually ease Friday evening.

Strait of Juan de Fuca Sees Gusts Over 40 MPH

The strongest winds in western Washington are expected along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Gusts exceeding 40 to 45 mph are likely near Whidbey Island, Port Townsend, and Point Roberts.

Port Angeles is forecast to see gusts around 37 mph, while Bellingham may reach near 30 mph. Coastal areas including Aberdeen and South Bend could see gusts in the mid to upper 20s.
