Amtrak to double daily Pittsburgh-Harrisburg train service Nov. 18

Amtrak will begin operating a second daily round trip between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg on Nov. 18, doubling passenger rail service on a route that connects western Pennsylvania with Philadelphia and New York City.

The expansion follows years of coordination among the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Amtrak and freight railroad Norfolk Southern.

The additional service will give passengers more flexibility on Amtrak’s 444-mile Pennsylvanian route, which currently operates one daily round trip between Pittsburgh and New York City…
