Alabama-Florida Weather Oct. 10-13: Flood Warnings Issued as Rivers Expected to Rise

BAKER, FL – Moderate river flooding is forecast near Baker in northwest Florida and Elsanor in southwest Alabama this weekend, with additional Flood Warnings covering waterways near Crestview, Milton, Saraland and Barrineau Park.

According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, the Blackwater River near Baker is expected to crest at 16.4 feet early Sunday, Oct. 11, exceeding its 11-foot flood stage. The warning was upgraded from minor to moderate flooding and extended through Monday morning.

At 16 feet, residential flooding occurs downstream from the Highway 4 bridge. Flooding also affects Cotton Bridge Park, secondary roads and lowlands near the river. Kennedy and Peaden bridges are subject to flooding at lower river levels…
