Rising home heating oil prices spark concerns for area seniors, residents on fixed-income

PENNSYLVANIA (WJAC) — As colder fall weather settles into the region, many households are facing steep costs to fill their heating oil tanks, and some residents worry the burden will hit seniors on fixed incomes especially hard.

The average price in Pennsylvania for residential heating oil was $5.83 earlier this week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. At that average price, a common minimum order of 100 gallons would cost nearly $600.
