Near one-year mark of Holly Hill’s death, mother starts fundraiser for Elgin students

ELGIN, Okla. — It has been almost a year since Holly Hill died after drinking what she thought was margarita mix but was actually industrial cleaner. Her mother is turning the tragedy into a fundraiser for students at her daughter’s old school.

Holly’s mother, Kelly Hunter, said Holly was served a drink that was supposed to be margarita mix but was instead made with an industrial degreaser containing lye. The lye damaged Holly’s esophagus, and Holly fought for her life for two and a half years.

Holly continued living her life as normal until one day she called her mother, unable to breathe. She died as first responders tried to help her…
