Madera Oaxacan festival postponed after ICE-related cancellation last year

After being canceled last year, Madera’s annual Guelaguetza celebration has been postponed amid heightened concerns surrounding recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement sweeps.

The Comité Guelaguetza Madera announced the news about the festival — which is centered around celebrating the heritage of Oaxaca, a Mexican state with a high indigenous population — on Friday. The event had been scheduled to take place Sunday.
