Connor Shaw Donates AED Machines to HP

Legendary Gamecocks quarterback has new mission

HONEA PATH — Legendary USC Gamecocks quarterback Connor Shaw has a new mission – saving lives. Shaw stopped by the Honea Path Recreation Center on Sept. 29 and donated two automated external defibrillators (AED) to the department. These will be placed in readily accessible locations in the field.

Shaw is considered the winningest quarterback in Gamecocks history. He went 27-5 as a starter, finished a perfect 17-0 at Williams-Brice Stadium, and threw for 6,074 yards and 56 touchdowns in his Carolina career. After surviving a sudden cardiac arrest in September 2025, Shaw launched Heart Huddle (HRTHUDL), a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds to place AEDs in locations where every second matters.

The Town of Honea Path is grateful for the donation. “What an honor and privilege to welcome Connor Shaw, former University of South Carolina quarterback, to Honea Path,” commented Town Council member Sheila Caldwell. “His generous gift of automated external defibrillators (AED) to our recreation department could be a game changer for someone’s life.” Mayor Jimmy Smith also expressed his appreciation. “The donation of two AEDs to the Recreation Department was greatly appreciated,” said Smith. “They will be strategically placed according to the recreation seasons. The Recreation Dept. staff will be trained on their use, and hopefully will never be called for.”…
