ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A documentary about an Allentown mother keeping her son’s memory alive after he was shot and killed in the city in 2017 will have its hometown premiere Nov. 6-8 at the Civic Theatre of Allentown.
Shalon Buskirk, the mother, directed “in love, in memory” with filmmaker Drew Swedberg. They say they worked on it in Allentown for seven years. In that time, Buskirk lost a second son to gun violence, and the last of three men charged in that killing was sentenced Tuesday, one month before the film comes home.
The film will be shown three times at Civic’s Theatre514. Each screening will be followed by a conversation with the filmmakers and community members who appear in it, according to the filmmakers’ announcement. Showtimes and prices have not been posted.
