North Carolina faces a natural calamity as multiple strong storms and possible tornadoes threaten the state. Turbulent weather has caused devastation since Sunday, October 11, bringing down trees, damaging buildings and causing power outages statewide.

Central North Carolina and Fayetteville were particularly affected, with areas including Cary, Apex, Jordan Lake State Recreation Area, and Crosswinds Boating Center hit hardest, according to ABC11 News. A Raleigh homeowner, Erik Grubbs, shared his experience with the news network, recalling how he grabbed his dog and took shelter just in time when his roof began to collapse.

“I mean, I literally grabbed the dog and closed that bathroom door when that window right there blew out, and all the glass literally shrapneled against the door. I mean, we made it in the nick of time, so God is good. Thank God these are just material possessions insurance will cover, but man oh man, this is tough, buddy,” he stated.

North Carolina Emergency Management said it issued tornado warnings across the state on October 11.
