U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested a Guatemalan national in the city earlier this month, the agency announced.
Maycon Eleazar De Jesus Barrios was taken into custody on Oct. 2 during targeted enforcement operations in Marlborough, according to a statement from ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston office. ICE described Barrios as being in the country without legal status and said his criminal history includes an arrest for assault and battery on a family or household member.
The announcement was issued in connection with Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In accompanying remarks, ICE Boston said the agency recognizes the impact of domestic violence on individuals and communities and focuses on identifying, arresting, and removing noncitizens who have been arrested or convicted of related offenses…
