- Worcester comedians Doug Guertin, Shaun Connolly and Bryan O’Donnell are set to open The Worcester Comedy Club Oct. 23 at Loft 266 above Gambrino’s.
- The first headlining comedian will be Corey Rodrigues.
Loft 266 – above Gambrino’s – isn’t a terribly large space, but comedians Doug Guertin, Shaun Connolly and Bryan O’Donnell see a lot of potential in the intimate setting, with its hard wood tables and bar, and its window view of Park Avenue below. They can envision a room filled with people laughing, people who come regularly, even if they don’t know who the comedian headlining is.
This trio – longtime stalwarts of the Worcester comedy scene – are in the process of turning the bar, frequently used as a function space, into The Worcester Comedy Club. Sitting in the room with Connolly and Guertin (O’Donnell was out of town) and listening to them talk about their hopes and plans for the space, you can believe it. You can almost hear laughter echoing back from the future.
They’re not unaware of the hurdles ahead of them…
