Denver artist Oak Bloak unleashes a herd of blue bison on the Front Range

Denver is well known for its blue mustangs and bears, but one local artist is working to add another azure animal to the Mile High City’s menagerie.

Max Coleman originally hails from Connecticut, but fell in love with Colorado after spending summers in Greeley as a child. Coleman, now a Denver resident, developed a passion for nature during these annual visits, which eventually blossomed into an artistic career dedicated almost entirely to animals.

“[Animals] are easier to be around than people,” says Coleman, also known by his artist moniker, Oak Bloak. “They’re not judgmental. They just meet you where you’re at.”
