Any retail store losing merchandise to a shoplifting incident hurts enough, but one specific Macy’s had to face two incidents on the same day. He allegedly stole merchandise from the same store on the same day as the first incident, and Officer Steven Velasquez also stopped him. This initiated a foot pursuit where additional officers had to be called in to help Velasquez catch the alleged shoplifter.
At the end of the day, both incidents were fairly similar. Not only were they both at the same store and on the same day, but the two alleged suspects both offered to return or pay for the merchandise to avoid arrest. Mallory also reportedly told officers that he’d pay for what he allegedly attempted to steal during his pursuit.
