Roanoke – The GO Outside Festival, known as GO Fest, returns to Roanoke this weekend, bringing three days of outdoor activities to two locations: Basecamp at Elmwood Park in downtown Roanoke and the Adventure Outpost at Explore Park.
A collaboration between the Roanoke Outside Foundation and Roanoke Parks and Recreation, GO Fest invites people to take part in activities rather than simply watch. Visitors can try a bike, demo a stand-up paddleboard, learn to fly cast, join a race and sample craft beer. The festival also features outdoor films and professional athlete shows.
Organizers say the festival draws more than 40,000 people to Roanoke each year and provides a $3 million boost to the local economy…
