Santa Ana winds are hitting San Diego County from today, Oct. 16, through Saturday, along with a burst of coastal heat. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for inland valleys, foothills and mountains, plus a heat advisory for coastal cities. Western valleys could see gusts of 35 to 45 mph. Mountain communities face sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 50 to 65 mph.
The weather service says damaging winds could knock out power across wide areas and make driving dangerous for trucks, RVs and other tall vehicles. Gusty conditions could linger in inland areas into Saturday night.
