In October 2026, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster presented the Order of the Palmetto to Corey Alston, recognizing his contributions to the Palmetto State and his efforts in preserving Gullah Geechee culture and heritage. State Representative Joe Bustos of House District 112 accompanied the governor to honor Mr. Alston on this momentous occasion.
