Get To Know Banana Ball – Here Are The Rules

Banana Ball is one of the more interesting things you’ll ever watch; it is very unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The Savannah Bananas play a unique brand of baseball. If you’ve never been, check out some of their rules…

  • No stepping out of the box: Batters have to stay in the batter’s box the whole time, which keeps the game moving.
  • No mound visits: Coaches and catchers can’t walk to the pitcher’s mound, so the action never slows down.
  • Two-hour time limit: Games are capped at two hours, no matter the score, so fans always know when it’ll end.
  • No bunting: If a batter tries to bunt, they’re automatically out.
  • No walks – it’s a sprint: When the pitcher throws ball four, the batter takes off running, and the defense has to throw the ball to every fielder before trying to get the runner out.
  • Scoring by innings, not runs: Teams get one point for winning each inning, and the team with the most points at the end wins the game.
  • Fans can catch foul balls for outs: If someone in the stands catches a foul ball, it counts as an out for the batting team!
