- Sunshine continues Saturday afternoon, with highs reaching the middle and upper 50s
- Sunday brings temperatures in the 60s
- A warming trend could push temperatures into the 70s by the middle of next week
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – After Saturday got off to a chilly start across southern Wisconsin, with morning lows dipping to 29° in Madison, Baraboo and Beaver Dam, and just 26° in Camp Douglas and Montello, southern Wisconsin is enjoying a much more comfortable Saturday afternoon. Sunshine continues across the area, helping temperatures recover into the middle and upper 50s following this morning’s widespread freeze. Madison should reach around 57 degrees, although a strengthening southwest wind will make for a breezy afternoon, particularly across western portions of the viewing area.
Wind gusts could occasionally reach 25 to 35 mph in some western communities, while areas farther east should generally experience lighter winds. Despite the breeze, conditions will be considerably more comfortable than Friday’s blustery weather, and the sunshine should stick around through the remainder of the afternoon. It’s a welcome improvement after several days of unsettled weather and sharply falling temperatures.
As we head into Saturday evening, skies will remain clear, with southwest winds gradually becoming less gusty. Temperatures will fall into the middle 30s and lower 40s overnight, but that’s a noticeable improvement over this morning’s freezing conditions. The combination of warmer air moving into the region and a continued breeze should help prevent another widespread freeze.
