Cleveland Man, 33, Dies After Forest Avenue Shooting, Woman In Custody

A 33-year-old man has died after being shot in the head early Monday on the 11200 block of Forest Avenue in Cleveland, according to a report from C.O.R.P. News. Christopher Greer was struck around 2:45 a.m., and medical responders began CPR and administered whole blood to him at the scene before he was taken to University Hospitals, where he later died.

Greer’s death was reported Saturday by The Cleveland, Ohio Remembrance Page, which cited the identification of Greer and the circumstances of his shooting. Police recovered a weapon at the scene and took a woman into custody following the shooting, though no charges have been publicly confirmed. A GoFundMe page set up for Greer states that he was fatally shot by his sister, but that claim comes from the fundraising page rather than from law enforcement, and official sources have confirmed only that a woman was detained and a weapon was recovered.

Rapid Whole-Blood Response Reflects Newer Cleveland EMS Capability

The on-scene administration of whole blood to Greer points to a relatively new tool in Cleveland’s emergency medical arsenal. Cleveland EMS, in partnership with MetroHealth, launched a prehospital whole blood transfusion program in June 2025 that allows paramedics to replace lost blood volume directly in the field for patients suffering severe penetrating trauma and hemorrhagic shock, according to EMS1. The initiative made Cleveland the first major city in Ohio with that on-scene blood transfusion capability.

Severe gunshot victims requiring immediate surgical resuscitation in Cleveland are typically routed to Level I trauma centers such as MetroHealth Medical Center’s main campus, which has run Northeast Ohio’s primary adult Level I trauma center since 1992, or University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where Greer was ultimately taken, as Hoodline has previously reported. Both are Level I trauma centers.
