A 1952 newspaper article informed the department that Pierre was 22 when he died on July 1, 1952.
A native of New Orleans, he grew up in Baton Rouge, where he attended McKinley High School, then went on to graduate from Gaudet High School in New Orleans. Pierre attended Southern University and entered the Army in April 1951. He was sent to Korea that November.
