How many times can you say “once again?” Zingerman’s has won the category for Best Sandwich in Ann Arbor — to no one’s surprise — for the 16th year in a row. The Kerrytown deli’s fame is self-sustaining: The more popular Zingerman’s becomes, the more it becomes iconic for being an Ann Arbor staple in and of itself, and thus the cycle continues.
For many University of Michigan students, Ann Arbor is a temporary home halfway between childhood and “real” adulthood. But Zingerman’s is here to stay, and so are its most diehard fans, sandwich Chef Mike Varney discussed in an interview with The Michigan Daily.
