The Weaverville Professional Firefighters Association has called for an independent investigation into leadership and management practices at the Weaverville Fire Department, citing two fire chiefs who resigned in about a year and ongoing employee turnover.
The three-page letter to the mayor and town council was read in closed session at October’s monthly town council meeting. Weaverville Councilwoman Jennifer Young had asked for the letter to be added to the regular agenda for the meeting, but Mayor Dee Lawrence refused to allow a change to the agenda.
