After receiving a $12,600 grant from 100 Women Who Care’s Chelsea chapter, Equality Chelsea has begun work on their Building Bridges program to provide connection and resources for transgender people and their families. Currently, the program is in its beginning stages as members of Equality Chelsea gather information from local members of the community.
“We’ve asked them questions like, ‘What did you do for resources? What kind of resources did you need? How is your adult child doing? What is your adult child’s experience in Chelsea and in Washtenaw County?’ We just asked some kind of questions like that, and got some really good, honest answers,” Equality Chelsea’s Kate Mehuron said.
