MACHENSEY PARK — The YMCA of Rock River Valley unveiled the new name for the Harlem Community Center on Thursday following the official merger of the two nonprofit organizations.
The overall facility at 900 Roosevelt Road is now named Field House YMCA. The gym inside the Field House is now called Hennig Activity Center, and the baseball and softball diamonds at 9350 Forest Hills Road are called YMCA Hennig Fields.
The new names honor the critical partnership and funding provided by Field, a global industrial fastener company owned locally by the Derry Family, and Hennig Inc., a global manufacturing company owned by the Goellner family in Machesney Park…
