NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Texas woman is arrested after a months-long fraud scheme investigation in Nashville.
Metro Nashville Police Department had 29-year-old Stephanie Banhart, of Texas, extradited to Nashville to face charges related to a scheme to coerce victims into paying bonds and fees for persons in the Davidson County Jail.
Police said on February 23, a 69-year-old man posting bond for a family member received a call claiming to be from the DCSO telling him he would have to pay an additional amount of money or his relative would remain jailed. He sent $1,275 to an account that police linked to Banhart…
