A pedestrian died late Monday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Wake Forest Road in Raleigh, police said. Officers responded just before 10:30 p.m. to a reported pedestrian crash near Dresser Court, and the victim was taken to a local hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
According to a preliminary police investigation reported by CBS 17, the pedestrian was struck by a southbound Toyota Corolla while crossing Wake Forest Road outside of a crosswalk. Police said the Corolla’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. As of Tuesday, no charges had been filed against the driver, and the crash investigation remained ongoing.
An earlier report from the same station had described a man hit by a vehicle near Wake Forest Road and Navaho Drive as believed to have non-life-threatening injuries. It is not clear from available reporting whether that earlier incident and the fatal crash near Dresser Court are the same event; the outlet’s two reports describe different outcomes and slightly different locations, and that discrepancy has not been resolved in available coverage.
