The past several weeks saw a flurry of activity on the southbound side of the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue, where Wells Fargo is located.
First, workers temporarily rerouted southbound traffic with traffic cones in order to dig several holes in an effort to locate possible underground power lines. The work is part of the preparation to place power lines underground and route them to the substation located between the Polk County Supervisor of Elections office and the Boswell & Dunlap law firm.
More recently, again on the Wells Fargo side of South Broadway Avenue, where the road is currently three lanes (narrowing to two lanes, one in each direction, at Parker Street), markings appeared along the curb for what will be eight parallel parking spaces. One block over, on Carpenter Avenue behind 195 S. Broadway Ave., the building the city recently purchased, the current five parallel parking spaces will be converted to angled parking.
