October warmth today, then storms tonight

  • Wednesday brings sunshine and highs in the lower to mid-70s
  • Showers and thunderstorms develop tonight
  • Thursday brings improving weather before additional rain chances return for Halloween weekend.

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – We’re starting Wednesday morning with another mild October forecast across southern Wisconsin, although patchy fog could reduce visibility in some low-lying areas before sunrise. Any lingering fog should dissipate by morning, leaving a mix of sunshine and clouds.

Temperatures will climb into the lower and mid-70s Wednesday afternoon, with Madison reaching around 74 degrees. South to southwest winds will become breezy, with occasional gusts approaching 25 to 30 mph. Most communities should remain dry throughout the afternoon.

We’ll continue to monitor for any storm that shows signs of becoming strong to severe. Rainfall amounts remain uncertain, though some communities could see steadier rain.

Lingering showers or a thunderstorm are possible Thursday morning before conditions improve as the front moves east. Clouds should gradually give way to sunshine, with afternoon temperatures reaching the mid-to-upper 60s. Thursday night turns cooler, with lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s…
