Richmond Heights Building Commissioner Rudolph Hilliard said at an Oct. 27 City Council meeting that there have been some improvements made to Parkview Apartments.
The apartment complex — also known as 444 Park Apartments — located at 444 Richmond Park E., still has many problems that are causing residents to become frustrated with what they say is a lack of action from the current management company.
In September, over a dozen residents came to share what living in the apartments is like, describing roach-infested children’s bedrooms, “waterfalls” from cracked pipes causing mushrooms and mold to grow, nonworking elevators and lack of secure access to the buildings, among other issues.
Hilliard told council during its Oct. 27 meeting that there was still more needed to be done at the complex, as nearly all of the elevators in the buildings were recently nonoperational due to lack of certification or because of maintenance issues.
“All or a majority of the elevators were shut down, basically because of nonworking or not having an accurate certificate, so some of those certificates were paid for, so, some of them (elevators) are being put back into play and I will have a more accurate number tomorrow (Oct. 28),” Hillard said. “They are still cleaning the trash chute areas and trying to do things of that nature… They have flooring that will be going down in November, they already took up a lot of flooring from some of the damage and mold they were having.”…
