Construction at Will Rogers International Airport to cause traffic delays starting Friday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Drivers heading to Will Rogers International Airport should prepare for traffic delays and detours as construction begins Friday, Oct. 30, near the airport terminal.

Airport officials say construction at the intersection of Terminal Drive and Amelia Earhart Lane will bring significant traffic changes as part of the first phase of the airport’s Cleared for Takeoff Terminal Expansion project, announced Oct. 13.

What traffic changes should drivers expect?

Starting Friday morning, drivers traveling to and from the airport terminal will encounter lane closures and detours.

According to airport officials, the following changes will take effect:

  • Economy parking: Drivers will be directed to a detour using SW 54th Street and Air Cargo Road.
  • Additional changes: Lane closures, detours and traffic patterns will shift throughout the construction project.

Airport officials encourage drivers to slow down, watch for construction workers and follow posted detour signs…
