The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said it shut down a fraudulent horse-buying website after a victim allegedly paid scammers over $5,000.
On July 9, a Colorado man reported being scammed by a business advertising online as Horse Adventures Sarasota.
SCSO said the victim initially paid $5,000 for the horse and traveled to Sarasota to pick it up. He was told the seller had a family emergency and went back to Colorado without the horses…
