A longtime snack manufacturing facility is preparing to shut down before the end of the year, leaving dozens of workers facing job losses just weeks before Christmas. The closure also comes as the company behind several recognizable snack brands continues to restructure its manufacturing operations.
Snack plant closure set for December
Powered by FTGU LLC plans to permanently close its manufacturing facility at 103 Somerset Drive NW in Conover, North Carolina, on December 16, 2026, according to a notice filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce. The filing lists 93 workers as affected by the shutdown.
The facility is located in Catawba County, approximately 50 miles northwest of Charlotte. The plant has a long history in snack manufacturing, previously operating under CoPak Solutions, a company known for producing tortilla chips and other snack products.
The affected positions include production-related roles, such as packaging machine operators, packers, forklift operators, and maintenance mechanics, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. The state filing does not provide a reason for the closure, and the company had not publicly explained the decision in reporting published October 22.
