NAIA: Southwestern survives furious McPherson comeback to extend winning streak to six games

The Southwestern College Moundbuilders survived a furious second-half comeback by the McPherson College Bulldogs, hanging on for a 27–24 victory in a crucial NAIA Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Bissell Division showdown Saturday afternoon at Equity Bank Park in Wichita, Kansas.

What looked like a comfortable afternoon for Southwestern nearly turned into a nightmare as the Bulldogs erased all but three points of a 24-point deficit before the Moundbuilders finally slammed the door.

The victory extended Southwestern’s winning streak to six games and improved its record to 8–1 overall and 3–0 in division play, keeping the Moundbuilders alone atop the KCAC Bissell Division standings. McPherson slipped to 7–2 and 1–2.
