A predawn 911 call about a man screaming that he had been stabbed in the 1920 block of Catalpa Avenue in North College Hill touched off hours of searching with drones and a tracking dog early Monday, but the suspect got away on foot. Officers arrived within four minutes and found a male victim inside a neighboring home with a deep shoulder laceration before rushing him to the hospital.
Dispatchers received the call around 4:06 a.m. Monday reporting the man outside in the 1920 block of Catalpa Avenue, according to FOX19. North College Hill police officers arrived within four minutes of the call, per a computer-aided dispatch report cited by the station. Inside a neighboring house, officers located the victim with a deep laceration to his shoulder, and he was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.
A Resident’s Tip Leads Police on a Foot-Chase Hunt
About 25 minutes after the initial call, a resident on nearby Emerson Avenue told dispatch that a thin man wearing a white shirt had been in a backyard, said he had just stabbed someone, and then ran off on foot. That tip, relayed in the same FOX19 report, set off the broader search that followed.
Hamilton County dispatched a K-9 tracking unit and launched two aerial search drones to try to locate the man, the station’s report states. Search teams found a cell phone in a backyard during the effort, but both the drones and the K-9 unit cleared the immediate perimeter after turning up nothing more, according to the same CAD report.
