Tape heads and discophiles on a budget, rejoice. Free Blockbuster San Antonio is back.
The city’s first free Blockbuster swap shop will reopen Nov. 21 at its new home at the Shops at Bandera Road, 1331 Bandera Road.
Like the Blockbusters of old minus the judgmental clerks and late fees, Free Blockbuster San Antonio offers various free Blu-ray, 4K, DVD and even VHS titles across genres. The store operates on a take-a-video-leave-a-video business model.
“It’s free because it’s a community project,” Free Blockbuster declared in the comments to its grand re-opening. “The idea is to share movies, keep physical media alive, and make movies accessible to everyone. Take a movie, leave a movie!”
