For the third year in a row, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival has won the Gold Grand Pinnacle Award from the International Festivals and Events Association, the highest honor for the best festivals and events around the world. This is the eighth time overall that the annual festival run by the CherryArts nonprofit has won the accolade in its 35-year history.
The Grand Pinnacle award recognizes festivals that excel in every key area of production and community impact, with CherryArts winning in IFEA’s highest budget category for festivals and events with budgets over $1.5 million. (Other events recognized in that category this year include the Kentucky Derby Festival, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, Memphis in May International Festival, South Korea’s Boryeong Mud Festival and the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Krakow, Poland.)
“We’re stunned,” says Tara Brickell, executive director of CherryArts. “Three consecutive Grand Pinnacles says a lot about the hard work of our staff, board, volunteers, sponsors and the artists who exhibit with us every July.
