ROCHESTER, Minn. — A guitarist who has performed alongside John Mellencamp for nearly 50 years is back on stage after doctors at Mayo Clinic discovered a rare spinal condition that had left him in a wheelchair.
Mike Wanchic faced the possibility of losing not only his mobility but the music that has defined his life. Progressive weakness and numbness in his legs had forced him into a wheelchair, threatening to end his decades-long career.
